Which Services Watch Earnings and Notify You About Your Holdings?
Most services can tell you that a company reported. Fewer can tell you whether the results matter for the reason you own it.
Several services will notify you when a company you own reports earnings. Yahoo Finance's free account sends earnings alerts and reminders for companies you follow. Brokers such as Charles Schwab let you set alerts for when a company publishes its earnings date and when results are released. Koyfin alerts you when a company on your watchlist publishes a new filing or transcript, and Seeking Alpha shows the upcoming report date for every stock in your portfolio. Ecomerate, an AI research analyst that works over iMessage, texts you before the week's reports with what your thesis hinges on, then tells you what the results changed for your position, with the source named.
The right choice depends on what you want from the notification: a date in your calendar, the headline numbers, or a judgement about whether anything changed.
What kinds of earnings notification are there?
- Date reminders. The company has scheduled its report. Useful for planning, silent on content.
- Results alerts. The report is out, usually with earnings per share and revenue against estimates.
- Document alerts. A new filing, press release or call transcript has been published.
- Thesis-aware alerts. The results were read against what you expected, and you are told whether that changed.
The first three are widely available and often free. The fourth needs a service that knows why you own each stock.

Koyfin's own guide to earnings calendars also ranks Investing.com, YCharts and Zacks. Those are calendars you visit rather than services that come to you, so they suit a weekly planning routine more than notifications.
How do you set up earnings notifications for your holdings?
- Keep one list of what you own. Alerts tied to a watchlist that no longer matches your portfolio are the most common reason people miss a report.
- Set both a date reminder and a results alert. The reminder gives you time to write down what you expect. The results alert tells you it is time to check.
- Write down the one or two numbers that matter. For most theses, that is a segment, a margin, a customer metric or guidance, not headline earnings per share.
- Read the release, not just the alert. Results alerts compare against consensus estimates, and estimates differ between providers.
- Switch off what you ignore. Price alerts on every holding during earnings week bury the messages that matter.
What should an earnings notification tell you?
A beat or miss against estimates is the least useful part of a report for a long-term holder. A notification worth reading answers:
- Did guidance change, and by how much?
- How did the metric your thesis depends on move?
- Did management say anything new about demand, pricing, customers or costs?
- Did a new risk appear in the filing or the call?
- Where is the source, so you can check it?
Our guide to what changed in an earnings report walks through that comparison step by step.
How does Ecomerate handle earnings for your holdings?
Ecomerate is an AI research analyst for independent investors that works entirely in iMessage. You text it what you hold and why, and it watches earnings releases, SEC filings and news for those companies.
- Before the reports. Text "check in with me before earnings each week" and every Monday before the open it sends one message on which of your holdings and watched companies report that week, the estimates going in, and what your thesis hinges on.
- When results land. It reads the release and filing, and messages you if something bears on your thesis: a guidance cut, a weaker segment, a new risk. Each message names its source.
- After the close. An optional daily recap covers how your watched companies moved, what moved them, and who reports in the next few days.
- Follow-ups. Reply with a question, such as how the margin compares with last year, and the answer comes back in the same thread with the filing named.
It also watches the suppliers and customers each holding depends on, so a key supplier's warning can reach you before your own company reports. See supply-chain dependency mapping.

Join the waitlistWhat are the limits of earnings alerts?
- Timing. Many companies report outside market hours, and some data reaches services with a delay. An alert is not a trading signal.
- Estimates differ. "Beat" and "miss" depend on whose consensus is used.
- AI summaries can be wrong. Any summary, ours included, can confuse periods or omit a qualifier. Open the release or filing before acting on a material point.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which service tells me when a stock I own reports earnings?
Yahoo Finance's free account sends earnings alerts and reminders for companies you follow, Charles Schwab lets you set earnings-date and earnings-release alerts on positions, and Seeking Alpha shows upcoming report dates for your portfolio. Ecomerate texts you in iMessage before and after your holdings report.
Can I get earnings alerts for free?
Yes. Yahoo Finance lists earnings alerts, earnings reminders and portfolio alerts on its free plan, and broker alerts such as Schwab's come with the account. Koyfin's free plan includes five alerts.
What is the difference between an earnings reminder and an earnings alert?
A reminder tells you a report date is coming. An alert tells you results are out. Neither tells you whether the results change your reason for owning the stock; that needs your thesis and a reading of the release.
Does TradingView send earnings alerts?
We could not find a native earnings-date alert. TradingView shows upcoming reports in its earnings calendar and in the watchlist's Earnings section, and paid plans can set news alerts filtered by watchlist.
How does Ecomerate notify me about earnings?
Every Monday before the open it can send one text listing which of your holdings and watched companies report that week and what your thesis hinges on. When results or the filing land, it messages you if they bear on your thesis, with the source named, and you can reply with questions.
